A bit early for this comparo, isn't it? Let's wait until both cars are out and we have official performance numbers and spec sheets.

well are we comparing to the c6 or the z06? the post says c6 and im guessin chevys not gonna change it very much over the next year and the gt500 will have like 60 more hp and 60 more tq (which ford has been keppin to their word lately, usually goin beyond it, and insiders have said expect that to be underrated) so ill give it to the stang as far as speed. handling wise the stang has a solid rear axle but its a shelby and u can bet ford didnt take that lightly (obviously shelby didnt), expect it to do very well on a road course but as far as it beatin a vette, prolly not. either way id take the shelby over the vette.

The '03/'04 Cobras could beat the 04 C5s and give the ZO6s a good run for their money.

Anyway the C6's 0-60 time is 4.3 and Ford say's the GT-500's is at least 4.5 so it's really to early to tell.

I found some information about the 2007 Corvette but it looks more like a concept if anything.

It's located here http://www.supercars.net/garages/Escudoman1852/2v2.html

Anyway here are some specs on this thing.

2007 Chevrolet Corvette ZR9
Displacement: 6210 cc / 379.0 cu in
Power: 480 bhp @ 6900 RPM rpm
Torque: 524 ft lbs @ 4300 RPM rpm
Top Speed: 200 mph
0 - 60 mph: 4.1 sec
0 - 100 mph: 8.4 sec
0 - quarter mile: 10.6 sec

Also, Is it just me or does this look like a cross between a Corvette and a Shelby A/C Cobra? Anyway, I don't know if this is some concept or the real thing but I thought I'd post it.

Re: 2007 Mustang GT500 vs 2007 C6 Corvette

Now that it appears the GT500 is packing 500hp, I should probably broaden this comparo to include all performance cars within the GT500's price-range and power rating.

What's the range of cars that are going to be around 50k and have 500hp? Umm very little. If you want to compare it to 500hp cars...then it will start losing b/c I'll take a F430 anyday over a GT500.

Re: 2007 Mustang GT500 vs 2007 C6 Corvette

I heard 40-45k. If you heard 50k then give me a source so I can check it out too. I'll see if I can find some more info on price range.

Re: 2007 Mustang GT500 vs 2007 C6 Corvette

here we go...only took about 30 secs.

"Ford and Shelby later reunited to develop the Ford GT concept car, a modern interpretation of the Ford GT40, into the full-fledged, road-going supercar that debuted at Ford’s Centennial Celebration in 2003. After that, Shelby has advised Ford on the development of the new Ford Shelby GT500, which will carry a base price in the low $40,000 range."

http://www.allfordmustangs.com/artic...le_00666.shtml

Even with 500hp, I don't see the price going up.
