Nice car

And it looks like I'll be the first to have the honors to post in here!

Well, we got the high bid on the car, but until I get to actually take her for a spin and see what she's like I can't really say anything more! I guess the running commentary will have to wait until we go pick her up!

Verdict is in! It's a good, decent-sized car!!!

Shifting took a little getting used to, as it's not your typical Japanese style, but I've gotten used to it. It's got some great pick-up even in 4th gear and it feels solid at highway speeds.

Very true dat. My Jetta's tranny is FAR different from the Nissan Pulsar I drove previous, actually I found them easier to use as the gears are so close together, they are called Euro-shifts

Decent-sized? This car is actually quite BIG. When it first was imported to the US, it was THE only car, aside from Rolls Royce which was put in 'Large Car' category.. That should tell you something..! I love the car (94 9000CD, champage-color, and beige interior), and I actually don't want a new car although I could afford one.

big but not heavy, my 1990 weighs in at around 2900 with a/c removed, the 1992-94 are 3100 and 94+ are 3200. and it hauls more than your moms 4000lb minivan! And the fact that it was the only other in the large car category is kind of misleading, in '86 the 5 series was bigger, the 7 series was grossly larger

Re: Nice car

Are you sure the 5-series was larger? When I purchased my first 9000 in 1992, it was much larger than the 5-series. My mate has a 87 520i and it is way smaller than the 9000 I had! The 7 series may have been bigger, though.. I'm not too familiar with that car from that period! But the backseat space is actually larger in the 9000 than in my new Saab 9-5 which by all means is considered as a very roomy car.

Stinker

Wow, SAAB 9000 Turbo's are not the greatest car. I was at a light and i saw a 9000 Turbo Revving his engine, going back and forth. The light went, and he was in my rear view mirror. I drive a 2004 BMW 530i. Considering that Saabs supposedly have more HP and Standard Torque i was surprised in the pathetic acceleration it had. Then, when i saw the driver again, he was an old man. If this is a car to pick up your girl friend in, goodluck. I guess if you want a cruising car, look some more.
