Re: Towing with a Freestar??

i tow with mine all the time, i have an 18foot boat i pull around with it. Less than 2000lbs. Acceleration and normal driving you dont even feel like it's there. Only thing is stopping of course, you can tell it's there when it's time to put the brakes on. Not too bad though. I have the 4.2L engine no issues so far. Just keep an eye on your fluids, make sure they are clean all the time.

Well I got it all set up to tow. Got the hitch mounted, and lights wired. I towed my sailboat about 250 miles, and worked great. Not that big... tops 1000 lbs. Works great for my use though

I don't recommend you to continue like that. If you continue, you'll destroy your transmission. Your transmission is not designed to handle this charge, even if the owner manual said it.

Even if you feel nothing, the transmission feel a lot. It heats up, and will finish by burning. Especially on hill.

It's like if you have an employee, and you ask him to lift 250lbs boxes with his hands. You feel nothing, but one day he'll broke his spine and you will replace him.

A Windstar without having the check engine light is not a real Windstar.
