'03 Civic Si or '03 SE-R SpecV?

hi! I'm new here. Just a question on what kinda car to get. And yea, these are the only choices I hav.

the factors I'm looking at are the insurance costs and gas. also, I'll be commuting to my school, which is about a 30 minute drive, give or take, but I also want to take into account the performance of the car, since I'm planning to modify it 2 years from now.

and one thing I need to know, does the SE-R take 87 Octance, or 91? i've been hearing different things here and there

Tell me why is it so important... not enough money for "plus" gas? If your budget is that tight why not get a used Civic Hatch...???
