when i shift at any rpm it revs up a few 100 rpms for about a sec. then drops like normal. when in gear i let off gas and it holds rpms i must depress cluch or brake hard to get a reaction every time. maybe T.P.S. ?

Maybe the O2 sensors are getting sluggish with age. How many miles you got on it?

If that's got the original O2 sensors, replace them. You'll get better gas mileage, even if it doesn't fix the problem.
