The strangest problem with my 97 breeze.

This is the strangest problem I have ever seen on any car, but I'm not really a car guy so I haven't seen much. The problem is when I put the key in and turn it to on, the power would come on, everything (dash board, horn, lights, etc...) but the radio. The radio has no power going to it even though everything else has power, and no power is getting to the starter. I turn the key nothing no clicking, no anything. Now when I do it nothing happens cause the battery has been drained ??? This whole problem started a while ago when the car was my mothers and one day it wouldn't start for some unknown reason. I started to take the starter off think it had gone bad, I asked my mother to move the car back a bit and it started up. So we got the car home and the next day I went to change the starter. While changing the starter I forgot to disconnect the live wire from the battery. It touched the frame and sparked so I went to disconnect it from that thingy, I suppose its the computer I don't know, and while disconnecting it the wrench I was using touched part of the engine block and sparked again. After all that I got the new starting in (some of you may know how annoying that is) and that is when this problem started. At first I thought that maybe the starter was bad so I put the old one back in it, same problem. started checking other things out like looking at fuses, and relays, they all looked fine. I bought a new wire to connect the starter to the computer thing, that wasn't the problem I'm trying to follow all the wires thinking maybe the plastic coding was bad and the spark melted thru it and its touching the frame. Its strange just the radio won't work, it won't turn on, and something is draining the battery. I don't have much money so I don't want to take it to a mechanic or buy any expensive parts. I don't have a car so it would be nice if I can get this one working. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advanced.

hi dreadfulgravy, interesting problems, sound like you may have blown a fuse, relay or melted a fuseable link. how did you check this before...with a test light? electrical problems ca be hard to trace so check everything on the starter circut. also it sounds like you may have a current draw draining your battery. let me know if you dont know how to check it with a test light.
