'95 Lincoln intermittent stalling issue
Ok, so I've had this stalling issue with my Lincoln for some time now. Have done numerous things to no avail.
What is does: *while in motion driving, gas depressed or not- completely dies- when cranked sounds hollow/empty- will not turn over but will start after 5-10 minutes just fine *while applying brakes rolling to a stop, sometimes dies- same sound when cranked as above-after 5-10 mins will start up when cranked *temp gauge jumps back & forth from about 2 clicks from C to about 50%H then back down to 2 clicks from C *A/C will blow strong then back off after about 20 minutes driving, car seems to drop power as well *heater/defroster suddenly stopped working- only blows cold regardless of temp setting *ALL 4 windows operate correctly only intermittently-window motor still sounds fine *hear a clicking sound just after turning the car off- happens about 4-5 times???? *periodically will see white-ish smoke pouring out of exhaust after idling for 5+ minutes only sometimes- but when it does it smells gassy and a bit sour- muffler guy said sour smell+ cat problem= old wives tale... OK- SO now...what has been fixed/replaced... Here's what has been done so far: *Vacuum leak- fixed w/ new hose *EGR Channels cleaned *fuel relay replaced *fuel filter replaced (check engine light went off, now back on again) *new battery *thermostat replaced *oil changed & checked regularly *tried fuel reset switch-doesn't do anything to change it I have searched a ton of forums and troubleshooting guides, and I don't know what else to try next. If any of Y'all have advice as to what this might be, I would be incredibly thankful and will refer to you as "The Car Genius of 2010"!!! Thanks so much!!!!!

Re: '95 Lincoln intermittent stalling issue
You have several problems going on. Regarding the dieing in motion and starting, it sounds like it may be a grounding issue. Check your ground straps from the engine. If they are corroded or broken, the sparks may not fire properly. There may be a PCM ground issue.
Are there any DTC codes?

Re: '95 Lincoln intermittent stalling issue
I would still have your catalytic converters checked, being plugged can choke an engine out.
Also clean MAF, and IACT sensors with CRC MAF sensor cleaner. All Air is metered going into the engine, if these sensors are bad it might be giving wrong signal to the ECU/PCU. |

Awesome! Thank you for the sensor clean up list. I'll definitely get that done. About the cat, absolutely- so far it's not chunking apart (thankfully) but I do not want to wait until it gets that bad- esp. with the whole "High pressure system" thing. Seems one thing feeds the other in this car more so than the others. I'll let ya know how it turns out.
