Re: Re: 2.8 HKS Stroker kit
Now that is a first. I've never seen a sequential box with cross cut gears before! Too bad it is all in japanese and I can't convert it right.

Re: 2.8 HKS Stroker kit
As far as stroker kits go, you will probably certainly need rods, the standard rods stretch the big end and spin out the shells when prolonged use over 8000 rpm. I would suggest the HKS 2.7l kit, its not too 'skipping rope' and will happily go to 10,000 still allowing the power you want. Ill let you know, ive just put one in mine.

Re: 2.8 HKS Stroker kit
Most of high tuned GTRs in Japan are using HKS 2.8L kit to increase not only power but also mid torque. Recently Tomei (Nissan's engine specialist made one complete engine with HKS 2.8 L kit, because Tomei has only 2.7L herself.)

Re: 2.8 HKS Stroker kit
Interesting, well I tell you how I got on in a couple of weeks its on the road then.
One question I do have, you seem to know your stuff, I am running a pair of HKS2540's and 720cc injectors, but the people who are doing my mapping (they have experience with Skylines) say that when boosting over 1.4 with this set up the inlet temperature goes wild and there is little to be gained from 1.5 or even 1.6 bar boost. To me this sounds like cams, any ideas? and if so suggestions? |

Re: 2.8 HKS Stroker kit
Still around? I'm about to start tuning my 2.8 next week. I've had my PowerFC set at 4000 RPM redline for engine break-in and now that that is done, I make boost realllly early but am starting to realize my turbo's are too small. I've got an HKS stroker crank, crower rods and some unknown forged pistons with N1 turbines. Boost 1.3 Bar by 3600RPM!!!!!!! But I haven't taken it over 4000 RPM yet so I'm interested to see what the rest of the curve feels like. I got the motor cheap with low low low miles on it. I was thinking about getting some 2540's.
Touge machine. Want good response and a decent amount of power (like everyone right... )

2540s would be a damn better match, you'll still get full boost around 4k with that stroke.

Re: 2.8 HKS Stroker kit
King of all Back from the dead threads :-)
hahahhaa. Engine is now broken in, tuned and spinning 8 grand. Feels good with the N1's on it. Tourquey and responsive. Need to work out my suspension, tires and wheel spin issues before more power..... Really happy with the 2.8 though.
