Re: B@w/ot-2008

that's an old argument...everyone knows Hondas, especially Civics, and torque don't go together

Re: B@w/ot-2008

Now that is harsh! Sorry, I didn't mean to go there.

I know it's a KIA. But it seems like they've come a long way. I mean, it may be a bit behind in some things, and the bigger Japanese name brands have new cars that may be faster. But they're also bigger, heavier and somewhat uglier too. Basically, I got a new car for the price I would've paid for a used EP3 with about 30-50k miles. It has about 20 less hp and 4 lbs/ft. more torque than an ep3. Some other things it has stock... 2.0L dohc 16valve with cvvt (continuously variable valve timing), 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS, four wheel independent suspension, front upper strut brace, stainless steel exhaust (with choking precat in engine bay... yuck!), 5 speed manual tranny with decently short but not too short gears... nice! Massive wheel well gap! (I'll be getting the Eibach springs soon to correct this ) and relatively lightweight cast aluminum 16x6" alloy wheels with Goodyear tires, spoiler, fog lights, cd player with eq presets bass, mid & treble audio controls, AUX input jack for i-pod and 6 speakers, etc. Not too shabby IMHO.

The Jeep will be driven by the Mrs. She loves it and it suits her pretty well. Besides, I just put over $600 in new BFG A/T tires that we want to get some use out of this summer in the mountains. That and we still have to pay the little bit we still owe on it... damn interest rates! (Better interest rate for the KIA though )

Re: B@w/ot-2008

So I just ordered a K&N filter for my car because they don't carry them in the stores. It better fit right. I think the stock filter is a Fram. F a Fram!

I've learned that the aftermarket for KIA is very slim and amateurish. Perhaps by the time the car's warranty runs out more quality parts will be available (ie. header and exhaust that don't throw codes!).

Hence I've decided to just get the K&N filter and the Eibach springs and call it good...

Re: B@w/ot-2008

Like I said I'm not "modding it". I put K&N filters in all my vehicles. The Eibach springs are sold at the dealership and will be installed at the dealership by an ASE certified technician (who just so happens to be my wife's nephew). This should've been done before taking delivery. Shame on me for driving around with the ugly wheel gap.

The Jeep went into the body shop yesterday. Should be done by Friday. The damn passenger side front window came off the track Sunday night. I managed to take the door panel off (4 screws) and insert my hand just enough to pop the glass back on the track so it would go all the way up and close flush. I told the body shop to fix it and bill me whatever it costs. Sux.

Re: B@w/ot-2008

the windows on the Land Cruiser are all messed up...the front drivers side won't go down unless i take the door panel off...think it's the motor or window switch....both rear windows come down but come off track for some reason, nothing wrong but for some reason they come off track...the only windows that work right is the front passengers side, sunroof, and the two sliding windows in the back...would love it if the tailgate glass went up and down

Re: B@w/ot-2008

Talk about electrical gremlins. That stinks. I always thought the rear window going up and down on the 4-Runners/Land Cruisers was pretty cool. My Jeep rear glass just opens up with 2 more struts... can't exactly drive that way though cuz it will just shut. I like the sliding windows in the Land Cruiser too. Those are cool. I reckon you're happy that your A/C works.

Do you have a Toyota mechanic for troublesome things that you cannot fix yourself or do you go to the dealership?

Re: B@w/ot-2008

The rear for the Land Cruiser is like a clam shell, only the 4Runners' rear window goes up and down...the a/c works, but I don't use it, just adds to my already bad gas milage...and the rear sliding windows is one of the reasons I love it...the kids can sit in the very back and have their own window to open

I don't have a Toyota mechanic...most of the problem I fix myself using the manual or I go to www.ih8mud.com for help...but I usually go to the dealer for transmission flush...when we had a Cavalier in Va we went to Meineke to have the transmission flushed and some weeks later it went out, so I leave that stuff up to the dealer...i have quite a tad bit of routine maintenance that I have to do

Re: B@w/ot-2008

Well, I can't exactly remember what I just wrote since AF decided to suck when I hit the post button, but I'll give it a try anyway.

Did not know that about the Land Cruiser.

Jeep tranny leaks at bellhousing and transfer case (supposedly common issue according to owners but not according to mechanic). I make sure all gasket bolts are good and tight each oil change and top off when needed. Apparently, before I got on top of the situation I was a few quarts low in tranny fluid and my wife's nephew made it out like it was my fault

I think that was the gist of it...
