Re: 1/12 Tamiya Porsche 935 with SMS detail set

Very nice stuff. Do you plan on keeping the body clean or will you weather it?
I wish I had Cartograf do my Scale Designs 1/24th 935 1976 Lemans Martini kit decals. Microscale decals crack after a few years!!!

Rob, that is so freaking mind-boggling! The look of your builds is so unique and brilliant, you know many people over do the used look or it simply does not fit to the rest of the build but you just archive this perfect look, hats off Sir!

Rob what kind of meterial did you use for that clear-ish looking water bottle type thing in the second photo?

Mark, I made some changes to the original Tamiya part then cast it in clear resin. It looks a bit rough in the photo but in real life it looks better. I simulated the water level by dipping the part in futures up to the level I wanted.

The brake fluid reservoirs were machined out of white translucent plastic then drilled out from underneath. I then painted the inside with clear green paint to represent the brake fluid and made a plug to seal the unit. Again, they don't really photograph well.

Thanks again everyone for the comments!

Re: 1/12 Tamiya Porsche 935 with SMS detail set

Hi Rob!
Great fun to watch this gem come to life. I can imagine it is a bit easier to detail up a car that is double in scale to the 1/24 scale cars but what a job you are doing! From the very first pictures of the wheels, I was hooked, and as you know I'm primarily a bike builder. Engine weathering and wiring and that fuse box in the last post.... So much to learn from an inspiring builder.

/Joel

Ps. How did it go with your yzr500 kit? Did you get a good price?
