Recap of the North American F1 fleet

Ok - after the amazing efforts of bucciali on the Japanese fleet thread and now Chris with Europe and the UK ones, I guess it's my turn to put together the American fleet thread. I'll also include Canada in the mix.

F1 road cars/F1 LM:

XP4 - Santa Barbara, CA

Formerly owned by Sir Roger Bhatnagar in New Zealand and Larry Blair of California

= = =

#001 - John Stafford III - Chicago, IL

<-- File Photo from the UK

= = =

#003 - Owner's name withheld - Sarasota, FL

Sold by Symbolic in LaJolla, CA in Feb 2008. Car was previously in Japan for about 12 years. Prior to that it was owned by Ron Dennis in the UK. Attended the 2010 MTC Owner's gathering.

= = =

#011 - John McCaw - Seattle, WA

Spotted in Aspen, CO during the 2006 Player's Run. (Link) Previously in the UK, maybe elsewhere. #011 was auctioned by Christies in June 2003 for 637,720 GBP which at the time was equal to 1,073,665.25 USD. An extreme bargain if you ask me. This car was originally painted "Carbon" and had a red stripe on the vent line of the door.

= = =

#013 - Charles Nearburg - Dallas, TX

<-- File Photo from Japan

In Japan for most of its early life then bounced around a bit finally landing in the USA in mid-2009. Owned for approximately one year by Bernie Carl in Washington, D.C.

= = =

= = =

#015 - Jay Leno - Burbank, CA

Formerly in Germany as I recall.

= = =

#022 - Miles Collier - Naples, Florida (Collier Auto Museum)

Formerly owned by Wyclef Jean. Originally owned by Thomas Bscher. Note: The Collier Museum is currently closed to the public except for special events. This car was originally painted "Genesis Dark Blue".

= = =

Formerly owned by Gary Schaevitz (NY) and Jim Clark (Nor Cal/FL). Originally owned by Paul Burdell in the UK. This car was originally painted "Carbon".

= = =

#029 - Owner TBD

Pictures and description to be added.

= = =

#066 Bob Bishop - California

= = =

#074 - Ralph Lauren - New York / Colorado

Originally built with high mirrors. 1 of 7 "Ameritech F1s"

= = =

LM2 - John Stafford III - Chicago, IL

= = = = = =

Those are all the ones I can think of at the moment. I'll be back to clean this up a bit and add the photos I didn't have handy or already hosted. Feel free to add or subtract anything you feel belongs here.

Thanks man.

Of course none of these 'Recap' threads could have been put together without the help of lots and lots of other people - both the ones who post here on a regular basis and also ones who choose to remain "silent partners" on the side for many of us. It's been a real team effort in all cases.

Re: Recap of the American F1 fleet

Sweet!

Now we are on a roll boys! Thanks for starting this Erik. Let's see what we all can contribute.

This is exactly what I thought was missing, when I launched the Japan Fleet recap. An overview of the F1's, with pics and current whereabouts, bit of history. In one place, to save you all the thread searching.

I am sure the three new threads will boost our search for F1 info (even more ) and that the search will be fruitful.

I guess now I have to give my thread a serious update, to keep in line with the others

Re: Recap of the American F1 fleet

Hello,

great work dear Erik In USA, nearly all F1s have pics, name owner etc... it's great !

Quote:
Suspected to be previously owned by Mansour Ojjeh - that may not be true. Has LM-spec engine
Mmm, what do you mean ? I was at Genava in september 2003 and It's him or his brother who was here. I'll try to find pics w<ith the owner but it's quite hard.

I think you are mistaken Patrick. This car has been tied up in a huge legal mess here in the USA for several years. Part of the punishment the US government was hoping to impose on the owner for fraudulent importation was the forfieture and sale of this car if he were found guilty. It's my understanding that #069 has been locked up in a US Customs storage facility during this entire time period. I also don't recall any photos from you (or anyone else) of #069 during that gap, save for the Bonhams Auction photo they used when the car was supposed to appear in Monaco in 2005. It ended up being a no-show there.

Isn't the car you are thinking of #018? Grey with the High Downforce Package and a light tan interior that recently reappeared in Singapore?

Re: Recap of the American F1 fleet

Somehow I had written down that #068 is in CA with "Richard".

Just wondering, is the user who posts here as "Jemada" Gary Schaevitz? I'd heard that this user owns #014 and #045, Schaevitz owns/has owned both.

The owner's name is Richard. It was in Monterey, CA when I got my ride last year, but it recently became public knowledge that this car is now in Costa Rica. In fact, you posted in the thread and someone clarified the location info behind you.

Yes - that assumption is correct. He sold #014 though, and has since acquired chassis #024 from Jim Clark to replace it.

Nice recaps guys! I really hope #036 doesn't have anything like a repaint or HDF put on it. It's definitely my favorite road car. Is there any knowledge (or rumor) on how much it sold for?

Re: Recap of the American F1 fleet

No word on the price, but visually #036 has not been changed. The new owner seems to agree with you and I that the car is beautiful as is. I'm not even one to normally like blue interiors, but there's something about this car - wow!

Incidentally, although the car was sold through T&C in the UK I have a feeling it's lived in Europe most of it's life.
