What are the symptoms of adding too much oil to your car??
Newbie to cars here.
I think I added too much oil to my integra. when I start it up the tail pipe bellows out smoke and the car barely revs. Will this damage anything? How many quarts and what kind should I use for my next oil change? Thanks! |

yeah dude you might want to drop that oil line down a little......not good to have the oil level up around the combustion chamber.....might catch your whole engine on fire or screw up your piston and what not

how long have you been driving with too much oil?
you might want to check your spark plugs also just in case there is damage from the high oil level. |

Drain it out ,then fill it with the right amount, 3.8qts I think, then run the motor for a few mins. Then replace your plugs and see how it runs.

Re: What are the symptoms of adding too much oil to your car??
u can't damage your spark plugs you can just foul them, if this happens you will have a misfire and just need to take out the plugs and clean them with a dry rag. also if you drove it for a while with high oil you might have cut down the life of your catalytic converter, if an engine light goes off it'll be your oxygen sensor post cat. other major problems you can get will be results of your pistons going up and down splashing the oil as they hit bdc (bottom dead center). all you have to do is open the drain plug at the bottom for a second not even all the way, drain oil (not into environment ) get out from under the car and check ur dipstick til its in the proper range. dont waste money on new oil.

oil doesn't burn, nether does gas if its not compressed and heated to vaporized ideal mixture ratio is 14.7:1 air to fuel or 1 atmosphere, nothing is gonna light on fire
