Could blocked injectors prevent car from even trying to start?
Ok, I have a 94 318 that has been parked for a couple of years. The fuel pump went out and I replaced it with a used one. It started up again but sputtered when reved and backfired some (exhaust backfire). I tried starting it up again in a week and nothing. The pump was burnt up again. Bought another pump and it is working now but now the car wont even attempt to fire at all. I know it has spark because I checked with carb cleaner in the intake and it would fire. I have replaced the fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator also. I also replaced the plugs which were fouled with dry black residue. The fuel rail has pressure in it. The next step would be the injectors correct? Could water in the old gas have blocked them to the point it will not fire at all? I read something about the cold start injector could be stuck open floding the engine. It looks like a big job to try and get to the injectors? Could it be anything else. Hoses are good too. I am just trying to get it up and running again so I can sell it. Thanks for any help.

Re: Could blocked injectors prevent car from even trying to start?
I have found out the answer is yes, blocked injectors was the issue. I guess the old gas had picked up some water which in turn rusted the injectors shut. I sent them in to be checked and cleaned for 64 dollars. Runs great now minus a vacuum leak I have to track down.
