Re: fast & the furious 3!!

God damn you know nothing about Skylines... Or importation.

Christ dude. I used to work for an importer for these things, and that short rambling you just said made absolutely NO FUCKING SENSE!

Just dont talk about things you dont know.

Im in North Carolina too, Deffinately not an Aussey.

Skylines are not required to be LHD (Left Hand Drive) they are MUCH more to import and legalize than $10,000. And they sell in the states anywhere from $75,000-$120,000.

I was speaking of Japanese Domestic Pricing when I said GTR's (R32-R34) range from $4,000 - $35,000

Not United States Domestic.

... Sorry but for some reason that statement pissed me off severely.

What the fuck is your problem? On which part did I make false statements? And yes they're required to be left-handed, at least in Florida anyway. And the prices I gave were strictly based on all the used one that has been on e-bay and on the streets. Since I live here, I wouldn't be talking about the fucking cost in Japan.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

That's a R32, the used ones can be easily had for under $30K.

Unlike 2 Fast 2 Furious, and all those people who decide to avoid the rules, it is mandated by Florida law that all vehicles in Florida must be left-hand drive.

And my mistake, I thought you were in Australia, since you bitch about Zed this and Zed that.

Re: fast & the furious 3!!

O but one thing...

Skylines are not required by ANY Federal D.O.T law to be Left Hand Drive.

You buy a Skyline off one of those sketchy ass Ebay auctions, the last time you see your car is when its either being exported or destroyed by US-Customs.

In order to buy a car off Ebay and actually have it registered for US Road Use. It must go through a proper RI (Registered Importer) such as MotoRex, RB Motoring, or Automotive Concepts out of Florida.

They take the car, and "legalize" it for United States Usage.

The proper mods are as follows:

-Re-enforced dashbar
-Re-Guided fuel neck
-Side markers on rear valence
-Glass met to DOT Standards
-New VIN number assigned by the DOT
-Meet EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) Standards
-Titled for US usage

Then, and only then can the car be driven on US roads.

There are other ways around that... But they are far too complex for me to discribe to you. Plus the methods are risky, and is only being done by one company; To common knowledge (Skyline Automotive out of Phoenix)

Half of these cars on Ebay are R34's, and later production model R33's. (1996-1997)

And what they dont tell you is that Skylines cannot be legalized past the year 1996 due to OBDII (On-Board Diagnostics level II) Compliance Standards layed out by the Federal DOT and EPA.

And seeming as all Skylines are ODBI Compliant... Only Skylines 1995 - can in fact be legalized for US Road Usage.

So you buy one of these Skylines off Ebay... And you screw yourself out of the:

-Cost of car
-Exportation Fees
-Japanese De-Registration Fees (if they even give you the papers)
-Shipping expenses
-Importation fees

After all of this money spent... Customs will say unless the car is being brought in for Race/Show usage only, it must be sent to an RI before it be acquired by you again.

... So if you cant afford $16,000+ for MotoRex, RB Motoring, or AC legalization charges... Your kind of screwed, huh?

So most people figure they'll just bring the car in for Race/Show use only... Dandy.

What they dont know is that the car can only be kept in the US for a minumun of Three (3) years. Or you can pay a branch fee ($347)allowing you to keep the car in the US for another Two (2) years... Making your maximum allowed possesion of the car... Five years.

Only a few Post-OBDII Compliance Skylines ever made it out of any of these RI's.

Blackbird was one of them (Craig Libermans Skyline... Also known as the 2fast2queer car, that Paul Walker drove). About 70 some-odd of these cars made it out before the cut-off date.

My problem is, is that you were making a statement about information that was completely, and utterly incorrect.

And like I said... Sorry, but for some reason that statement annoyed me.

As for OZ, you're an Aussie right? I thought OZ was a short term for Aus - Australia.
indeed my statements were based on broad generalization, but so you're saying Skylines R32-R34 on the US Market can't be had $45K once it's already been imported and legalized by the original seller? People don't convert right to left hand-drive? And Florida law does not require left-hand side driving? I find it interesting that you know it for sure, since you're all the way in NC. While one of my friends met with such predicament. And Automobile magazine never featured Skyline R34 on their magazine, quoting the price about USD $60K (asides the import fees)? And you still claim all the stuff I said is incorrect? Perhaps you misunderstood something, considering I wasn't talking about the process of importation, nor how much it will cost to get a brand-new (if) to import it all the way to States from Japan.

Re: fast & the furious 3!!

Dude... I worked for AN IMPORTER... IMPORTING... SKYLINES... Is this connecting with you?

I am also very much associated with SkylineAmerica.net... Which is based out of Florida. Mike (owner, president, God of company, whatever) is a Skyline Guru... He sells Street Legal R33's and all of his cars are in fact; RHD.

R32's can easily be "had" for $25,000. But you need to find one Pre-Legalized seeming as MotoRex and RB Motoring have taken a sabatical from Legalization for a few months... Actually its been about 6.

R34 GTR's from our WHOLESALER is about $35,000. New, yes; R34 GTR's were $55,500. NEW.

Wholesale, and retail are two entirely different things.

Such as this :

You can buy an R32 GTS-T in Japan (from a wholesaler) for $900 USD, or 98,774.86 JPYen. However... To the public, they can sell for as high as $10,000.

Retail... $10,000... Wholesale $900

It's how people make money.

That is why in "Automobile Magazine" they said the Skyline R34 GTR was (as you said) 60grand. New. Retail.

Used. Wholesale is about $35,000, or even cheaper pending on condition.

... But I guess your still right... Huh?

Re: fast & the furious 3!!

O and magazines arent always right man...

I recently got tore-apart by some guy on a Skyline forum who said my information was wrong on the 2002 Nür.

(I stated that a Nür was a stock V-SpecII with different brakes, valve cover, VIN plate, leather interior. There was no performance difference. And, they were the last 1000 GTR's ever put into production... I quote Road&Track on that. Only half true turns out.)

He brought forth that Nür had N1 block, turbos, crank case, internals and perfomance upgrades... Significantly raising the power from a mild 276 (Japanese Stated BHP Rating) to over 550BHP.

I relectuntly refused to beleive this... Because I read it in a magazine.

Turns out... He was right.

I admited I was wrong, and left it with some new knowledge.

Nothing wrong, or degrading there.

Re: fast & the furious 3!!

What is the point?

That I flipped out over something very miniscule?

Yea I did... Like I stated in my first post...

"For some reason that statement annoyed me"

And it did.

... That was fun, lets do it again

(Ok back to sanity)

No, but above.

Say, could you hook me up with wholesale cost of a R32 with everything legalized for the States?

since you got inside connection, just curious, what would be the cheapest you can get for a R32 with low mileage and fully legalized?

Re: fast & the furious 3!!

MotoRex has sold 85 legalized Skylines... RB Motoring (I've heard... Dont quote me here) has sold about 45. And private importation companies have sold about two-dozen.

Anyways Z Fanatic...

R32 GTS-T... My buddy has one with an RB26DETT powertrain for $21,500. Legalized.

Yea, they're not cheap.

Beats getting a 350Z, I'd take that over it.
