Where to find air shocks?

Hey guys,

The rear air shocks on my recently purchased 1996 Roadmaster are leaking, and I need to purchase replacements. I'm having trouble finding the OEM replacement, anybody know a good place/website? Do Air Lift 1000 bags work as a replacement?

Much thanks,

Alex

[EDIT] Saw someone on this forum say they got a replacement at O'Reilly's but I couldn't find it on their site...

[EDIT] Sorry to keep editing but after doing some more research, came upon Monroe Max-Air MA819, which seem to fit the Roadmaster. Do you all approve?

Monroe makes replacements that fit fine and use the OEM air lines. Other brands probably work, too, but I chose Monroe and I'm happy with them.

Did you have them installed at a shop or is this something a non mechanic can change?

Re: Where to find air shocks?

I put them in myself. The job is simple EXCEPT for the top bolts. It's really hard to get them out because they are threaded into nuts which turn when you try to remove the bolts. Getting a wrench between the body and bracket is very hard to do. If I did it again, I'd break off the bolts by tightening them instead of loosening. Then, you could put new bolts and nuts in with the new shocks and have a much easier task.

Re: Where to find air shocks?

Thanks for the tip.I saw a video on youtube attaching the air line to them.I am afraid maybe the pump is close to burning out.It started out mking a noise all the time, now the sound of it going on is a little different.Someone changing my oil just happen to tell me I had hole in one of the shocks.Untill then I had no clue.

Re: Where to find air shocks?

Usually, before the pump fails, the fuse will blow to protect from over current. This is not to say, that the pump is still pumping the needed pressure to inflate the shocks. See what happens when you replace the shocks.
