gearing
on a 97 K-1500 350 with 9 inches of lift and 38" tires stock ratio 3.73 what ratio should i switch to to maintain the same power or better?

My very experienced mechanic stated this, "If you wish to change the gearing, you must send your rear-end to a rear end specialist who only does rear ends every day, not some 4x4 parts shop who may do a couple a year." Some are put together too tight, which cuases a vibration, others too loose, just like a doctor, take it to a specialist who does boob jobs everyday. |

There are many regular people who know how to set gears. I've done it in a parking lot before and it still came out near perfect (and it's been nearly a year).
I would think somewhere between 4.10 and 4.88'ish would bring the RPM's back closer to the stock range. You could go even lower if you would like. |
