Home Built Cab Rack on 2003 Ram?

I will need to haul some 16 foot 2x6 stock shortly and was thinking of fashioning up a rack for over the cab, in conjunction with welding up a support that will fit into the my hitch receiver to support this long material. Just wondering if anyone has tackled making up a roof rack bar for one of these models, I'm sure it can be done, just hoping to see a pic of what somebody else has done to help me get the juices flowing so to speak..

Thinking of laminating several chunks of either scrap 2x4's to make the blocks for either side of the cab, and fashion up a piece of metal to catch onto the edges of the cab, this could be then tightened up with a lag bolt into the block of 2x4.

Any input to help me flesh out this idea would be appreciated.

Thats the idea for what was gonna fab up for the hitch reciever, but 16 footers would stick out too far in a 6.5 foot box, so will have to have a rack bar across the cab as well as one of those supports in the hitch reciever.

Update: I ended up buying the rack system that I posted the pic of in previous post and its great for hauling lighter loads of wood or my canoe (mostly the canoe to small lakes back in the bush). I decided for 16 footers ( that project got put on hold) I will just have them delivered when the time comes.
