Stats . . .
According to one of my sources . . .
The new A4, to go on sale next fall as a 2002 model, will be powered by a 217 horsepower V6 . . . There's a lot of changes to the A4, substantial changes . . . one of the more performance oriented changes is the switch to aluminum lower links in the front suspension. This is said to reduce unsprung weight by 19 pounds! How's that for freeing up some ponies? |

Definitely sounds good with the horsepower. However, I have to say that I don't like the fact that they made the new A4 look like the A6. I say, stay with the design that identifies the A4.
Not that I don't like the A6 body style, just not on the A4.

It's funny you should say that . . .
My source also informs me that future A4, A6 and one other model will be sharing the same paltform . . . too bad . . . |

Why are they gonna do that. That would be stupid!! What possible advantages, manufacturing and parts aside, could they gain from that? What source?

The horsepower sounds about right. They have a version of that engine in Europe right now, I think. Hopefully , the A6 and A4 won't be the same, that would really suck. I think they will differentiate them though (the golf and TT have the same platform, after all)
I will check my sources at home to find out more about the engine.

Hmmm...I kinda feel comforted knowing that the A4 is a 4 cyl. Let's me sleep at night. What ever shall I do now?
What's the future of the S4 gonna look like? Still turboed?

I think the A4 will still have the 170 hp turbo 4 as the base engine. I wonder what the S4 will be like?? Could it have the W8, from the passat, also for a hot Golf?? Or a TT V6? Hmmmm......
