Toyota Camry 1993
Hello all my name is Jack, this is my first time here and i was motivated to post this due to an issue that am having with my car.
1993 Toyota Camry v6 LE mileage: 229600. When trying to accelerate from a stop, the engine will lurch and shake violently. It is worst when I first accelerate, once above 20mlphr or so its fine. The lurching isn't quite as bad if you accelerate slowly, but if you try to take off fast, it almost stalls out the engine. Also the problem appears to be worst once the car is wormed up. Help! |

Re: Toyota Camry 1993
if it is an automatic car it sounds like a torque converter to me. is the car standard or auto? could be a number of things but torque converter was the first thing that really called out to me.

"When trying to accelerate from a stop, the engine will lurch and shake violently."
What you are describing sounds like the car is missfiring. Most missfiring under load, like taking off from a standing stop, is caused by faulty ignition system components. How old are the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and distributor rotor on this car? Has the coil inside the distributor ever been changed on this car? The coils can cause problems on this generation Camry, when they accumulate lot's of miles on them. 229,000 miles is considered a lot of miles. Mike |
