Unhappy 2002 Blazer Stalls, Key Stuck, Won't start

Hi All,

I've searched this site and the internet and can't seem to find anyone with ALL the same issues i'm having. I hope someone here can help me out.

Here is what's going on:

The girlfriend was going to a drive-thru, but the blazer felt like it was going to stall, she put it in reverse and went a few feet and it stalled. Once that happened, the engine would not turn over at all, and the key could not be removed from the ignition.

Put jumper cables on and it fired up, the gas gauge proceeded to go to empty, when she put the vehicle in drive it stalled on her again, and she could not get the key out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not every body has the same problems.

Did it run ok as long as the jumper cables were hooked up and could you pull key with them hooked up?

First thing I wold check for is a dead battery or bad cable and post connections.

Make sure battery has good 13.6 volts.

IF SO CHECK FOR GOOD VOLTAGE TO FUSE BOXES.
For more help.
Post back what you find there.

Re: 2002 Blazer Stalls, Key Stuck, Won't start

i would think(??) that the security system and the shift selector (not in park/neutral) would be the only things that could keep the key locked down. for both, i would assume the prob to be a faulty ign switch.

my sis has a VW and the shift cable went bad, causing it to go into the wrong gears. as a result, the key would get stuck, and it would stall/go into the wrong gear. might be worth checking out...

Dead battery or no battery voltage will lock it up.

Well, I went to check the voltage of the battery and the damn thing started right up without any issue and seems to be running fine at the moment.

I would suspect that could mean the CPU might be going? My brother had a Jeep that did this type of thing.

What did the battery voltage check?
Check battery cables and ends before throwing CPU parts at it.
