Tamiya Jaguar MkII sedan

Now that I drive a Jag, I figured I ought to build one too. Here's the start to Tamiya's 1/24th scale Jaguar MkII sedan kit which is a FANTASTIC kit by the way. I was lucky to find a nice pic of a restored engine to use as a guide as I start.

Paints are all Vallejo, either Model Air or Model Color, with the exception of Tamiya Nato Black for the radiator hose.

Re: Tamiya Jaguar MkII sedan

Latest update as the Jag gets onto all four wheels. Just the paintwork, trim, and interior left to do.

Shaping up nicely. I always liked these big Jags.

Re: Tamiya Jaguar MkII sedan

The interior, sans the steering wheel and steering column, is completely finished. It's painted in Tamiya Buff with a rubbed wash of Tamiya brown panel liner that helped give a bit of an "aged leather" look on the seats. The kit wood panel decals on the dash and the door panels actually turned out pretty well with just a bit of MicroSol.

The body has three coats of Tamiya Gloss Aluminum and one coat of Testors One Coat Wet Look clear. It's looking great and once it fully gasses out and I can do a bit of polishing it's going to look fantastic. There's still a lot of brightwork left to do and the glass, but it's in the home stretch!

Are these stock wheels? Looking good.

They are indeed the stock wire wheels and Dunlop tires. The wheels are absolutely fantastic in this kit and leave you wishing Tamiya made them available separately for all of those Italeri 250's and Airfix E-Types out there.

They are not correct for Ferraris, though.

Re: Tamiya Jaguar MkII sedan

So we're down the home stretch with the Jag. Clearcoat was rubbed out with The Treatment and the window trim was done with Molotow. Glass is all in, interior and engine bay is done, and now there's just a few more chrome bits, the number plates, and the metal transfers to add. I can't say how enjoyable this kit is or how pleased I am with the results so far!

Keep hearing about this Molotow marker - what is this and where do I get it?

It's a chrome pen and it is available at most well sorted arts and crafts store. I don't know where you buy kits Alex but I think Hiroboy sells them.

Thanks, I need to look it up. And its been a while since I actually bought a kit (until couple of days ago off eBay), have a stash to last me a lifetime.
