Re: Read if ur wondering about the 3sgte swap

what ignition would be used on a 3sgte engine, 93 model. Going into a 92 GT car. i would rather buy an aftermarket ignition instead of buying the igniter for the 3sgte which is around 400 dollars by itself. is there any place that you guys know of that has a detailed information on wiring for 5SFE to 3SGTE. thanks guys...

Re: Read if ur wondering about the 3sgte swap

I have an 86 celica 2se. After reading the chiltons manual I found that in 1986 they made two motors for the celica. 2se and 3sge. I have a line on a 3sgte swap, but I was wondering if it will bolt up to the motor mounts. I am questioning this because after reading this thread, the 3sgte has alot of differences than the 3sge...I thought that the "t" just meant turbo? I am thinking of buying the swap, which will give me the motor, ecu, wiring harness, and shift cables.

Re: Read if ur wondering about the 3sgte swap

I have had a 2nd generation 3sgte in my 1991 celica gts for a year and a half now. Expect to replace ball joints wheel bearings and upgrading your suspension. The engine cost me 2200 I sold the awd tranny for 400 about 500 in parts and 500 labor for the thiings I couldn't do myself exhaust 350 short throw shifter 60 moved the ecu extended my wiring harness custom fan new radiator hood scoop because this engine needs the air. Also. Expect to be fine tuning for a little but it is deffinate worth it.

Smile Re: Read if ur wondering about the 3sgte swap

Hey everyone, I am currently doing a 3sgte swap in a 1996 Toyota curren. The original motor was a 4sfe and from there I had a 3sge in it, just wondering if the 3sgte will run with the 4sfe ecu?
