*progress* Mercedes SLK 230
I am doing this car for a friend of mine. Its a replica of his 1:1 driver.
Its a Tamiya kit with a custom bodykit fashioned after a 1:1 expression tuning of Belguim kit, exclusive to Mercedes. Picture of the real car: Kit: rear: kit: side: kit: Its not finished yet, I still have to put putty on and smooth it, but its the basic shape. Interior... Real car: Model: What do you think?

Re: *progress* Mercedes SLK 230
Nice job, do you plan on doing the little cell phone holder? I think that would be a nice touch IMO.

Re: *progress* Mercedes SLK 230
im not a big fan of the 1:1 SLK230, but this blue one is very nice.
your modeling so far is spot on, excellent work. one thing is the sideskirts don't resemble his yet, but you did mention you need to reshape them so we will see. great work so far!

Re: *progress* Mercedes SLK 230
That interior is killer! Looks spot on, and is very clean. A clean interior goes a long way in making a model look good. If you get that fold in the sideskirt, you'll have a perfect model of his ride. Are you going to do the glass behind the seats? Is that a factory or aftermarket part?

Re: *progress* Mercedes SLK 230
Very nice machine, I'm envious! One thing I did notice is the cuttout for the rear number plate. The real car has a US size plate, the model european sized. Would be very messy and time consuming to fix, but should be doable. Depends how much time you are willing to spend. Good luck with the sideskits and everything.

Re: *progress* Mercedes SLK 230
Awesome, don't change the model, change the car
Oughta happen more often, why should we poor suffering modelers always have to change things to accomodate the real world? I salute such out-of-the-box thinking :salute: (whatta ya mean there's no such smilie?) |

Incredible detailing. This will be very nice looking model. Especially I like the metallic blue color on the real one. Can't wait to see that color in 1/24
