Re: Porsche 936 Turbo – Tamiya 1/24

Another push to the model. And this is the current state, with all its decals on, ready to receive the lacquer:

But let’s go step by step. In the previous post, we left the body painted ready for varnishing and decaling. Therefore, we have already varnished the body with the Zero pre-diluted varnish: two layers leaving an acceptable and sufficient gloss for the decals:

Y empezamos a ponerlas.

And we started to put the decals. Say that these Shunko are like rubber, that it costs to stick them and the dryer is necessary and essential. For the curves, I have used the Micro product number 2, once the decal has been applied. This is the photo from the first day:

On the second day, I put the rest of the Martini stripes. For the grids, I let the decal dry a little, stick well to the tops, and with a new cutter I cut the decals into the holes on the front so that the back would adhere to the grid. To facilitate this task, I cut a wooden stick at an angle, so that I could insert it into the holes and be able to press.

And on the third day, I put the rest of the decals, putting first the ones on one side, and the others on the opposite side, according to the positions of the decals on the previous side. For the panel lines, I let the decal dry, and with a new blade, cut in the middle, using the toothpick again to fix the sides of the cut.

We already left the body ready to lacquer, and we get into the chassis, which we currently have it like this, painted with AK matt aluminum, although it looks black:

In principle, I give an acrylic Smoke wash to the engine:

To go on to put MIG Oilbrushers points, of various colors distributed randomly. Previously, with a cloth sandpaper, with a lot of grain, I marked the chassis to simulate rubbing of it with the ground, shoulders, etc …

With a flat brush, and with MIG solvent, I am giving longitudinal passes so that the colors melt. Later I cleaned it with kitchen paper, with no pressing too hard. If you see, on the leading edges, there are some black marks. I did these after putting black dots from the same paint, and with a stick, I started rubbing, but from back to front, achieving that finish:

Once the paint dries, the finish becomes more subtle:

We go to the cockpit. We make some templates with masking tape, and we pass them to Kevlar decal:

We also cut a few pieces of the same Kevlar decal that we put in the lattice of bars inside, as a fastening of the chassis:

And in the backet, we started to adapt it. First of all, the black belts. The decal is from Studio27, placed on the belt with the Tameo super strong decal fixer; put the liquid and leave the decal on top without touching it. The result is very good.

And now the dashboard. I have removed all the buttons, switches and lights, making a hole afterwards in each place. I sanded the base of the clocks to leave only a slight mark that would help me to place the decals later. I printed and painted it with satin black. And to test the new Decalcas lights, I painted four with an Edding marker, then put on a drop of varnish. The result is very good!!

After testing, I put the decals on. The large clock is from Shunko’s leaf, and the others belong to Virages:

For the edges of the watches, I use aluminum wire modeled on a tube of the desired diameter, and cut later. Here we see the big one already placed with diluted white glue, and the small ones, waiting for their placement:

And here are all the hoops on. It remains to put a drop of varnish or a drop of UV transparent resin, which I have to try:

I sanded the tires by putting them on a rim placed on the mini drill, leveling and wasting the entire surface including the side, to remove preprinted marks:

Then I put the decals on them, with the same method as on the belts. My usual finish is missing which I give it with diluted matte black:

Ahora si, lo siguiente es la laca.

Gracia spor ver y comentar!

Now yes, the next thing is the lacquer.

Thanks for viewing and commenting!

Re: Porsche 936 Turbo – Tamiya 1/24

Well …. I already have the body lacquered and with some progress made !!! Looks good!!!

But let’s go with the photos. These are of the lacquered body: two very light layers, and a third with more solvent, separated by 5/10 minutes, of the Gravity brand.

Once dry, we mask to paint of Tamiya XF-1 matte black, the headlights, the tank covers, and the air intake (it is painted black inside). I use this paint to be able to remove any residue on the lacquer, passing with a stick or even with X20A solvent, which does not affect the lacquer:

Inside the body, I also paint matte black what can be seen from the front air outlet:

Y este es el resultado:

And this is the result:

At the air intake, since the entire interior was not painted at all, I will give you a few strokes brush with the same matte black:

Here we see the gasoline inlets, painted, in the absence of placing the metal parts:

And in the headlights, I paint the parables I made with Molotov chrome. Then come the crystals and their separators:

Here you can see the air inlet, already painted inside and with clean edges:

And a part that I have hardly shown, the rear wing:

We can see that I have put some rivets on the hinges of the same since in reality, the rear plane can be rotated at those points. They are glued with cyano.

Pasamos al asiento. Aquí ya tiene los cinturones puestos:

We go to the seat. Here it already has the belts on:

In the next photo, we see the gear lever added, some cables that go along that side and the brake distributor, which is a photoengraving I have glued a cable that goes backwards:

And in the front part of the ground, I have already glued the framework of the tubes to the chassis, and I have dirtied the area with AK and MIG colors, eliminating the excess with a stick, irregularly, leaving more quantity in the corners:

I have also put two braided lines that communicate the front with the back, which I imagine will be for cooling:

Otra foto del chasis:

Another chassis picture:

Y de la parte del motor:

And another of he motor part:

Now we see the steering wheel and dashboard with all the clocks, and the lights, switches and buttons of Decalcas:

We go to the wheels for finishing this post: here they are with a very light layer of diluted matte black, which I have touched on the outer edge, to identify a use of it:

Y aquí, con sus tapacubos y tuercas:

And here, with its hubcaps and nuts:

Ya está casi al final. Gracias por ver y comentar!!

It’s almost over. Thanks for viewing and commenting!!

Re: Porsche 936 Turbo – Tamiya 1/24

Last update before the final photos !! Just to tell you that the model is already finished, but I have to put the last components added to the kit.

We start at the back of the car. The lights were painted with markers on the outside, with Molotow on the back, and they were glued on some plates painted in matt black, made with tin foil. The round red light was made by turning and polishing aluminum, and painted with a red marker. The base is a self-adhesive aluminum circle. These three lights were then varnished on the outside with Gauzy with a brush. I also glued the mechanism that fixes the inclination of the upper plane of the spoiler, as well as the fasteners of the tailgate, also placed on the same plane as the lights.

At the fuel or oil inlets, we put existing photo-etches from other kits.

We add the grids of the NACA inlets that provide air to the turbos:

In the following photo, I show you the security devices, antenna, tailgate fixings and the photoengraving of the cover, in which I made a line to be able to embed this photoengraving:

We go to the lighthouses. First we glued the aluminum rings that I cut from a tube with white glue

… and then stick the crystals on those rings. You can also see the front drag hook, painted in a different red, not so fluo:

Then, with white glue, we glue the crystals that have been polished. Later, I will add the rivets of these crystals.

In this photo we can see the mirrors, whose process I explain below:

Before cutting the mirrors from the support, we glue them to the table with masking tape and protect the rest of the photoetched parts:

In the next one, we see the result of passing Micro Mesh sponges, from grain 1500 to 12000. We already see something reflected.

But we need to polish it more. Now I cut them out and glue them on a support with masking tape, putting self-adhesive aluminum tape around themso that when polishing with the mini drill, the masking tape is not taken away. I apply the polishing liquid to the mini drill, and apply it. The result can be verified !!

The dashboard finished with Gauzy varnish applied to the watches with a brush:

To fill the left side of the cockpit, I made a small board with two “switchboards” to which I attached a stretched plastic cables:

Y unas vistas del cockpit terminado:

And some views of the finished cockpit:

We continue with the engine, or what we can see of it: all the parts are already glued, and you can see, some cables that reach the turbos. In these parts, my intention was to test finishes as they are hardly seen, with a very decent result, for when I apply them to other cars!

Las ruedas traseras ya montadas…

The rear wheels already mounted …

…y las delanteras!!

…and the front ones!!

For finishing, a cockpit view with the body mounted:

El siguente post serán las fotos finales.

Gracias por ver y comentar!!

The next post will be the final photos.

Thanks for viewing and commenting!!
