Restoration - Plastic Trunk Emblems

Hi everybody,

I couldn't find a restoration section so I figured this is the next best place.

My old '84 323 Familia that I'm doing up was missing a trunk 'Mazda' badge, so I searched and searched for a new one and managed to find a steal for $2. It's missing the 2 pins on the back and has scuffed-up paint on the front.

I plan on getting this trunk badge back to immaculate condition, but I don't know a whole lot about small-scale masking and painting. It's plastic, so what sort of paint should I use to avoid damaging the material? What's the best way I should go about prepping such a small item?

It's probably a question more for a modelling hobby forum, but it needs to be able to stand up to the elements most cars are put through, and I figured that some of you restoration guys would've done emblems like this in the past.

Thanks!
