99 Silverado Transmission cooler
It looks to me the tranny cooler is leaking oil. My question is can the be replaced itself and if anyone would have the steps to do it. That's what I am assuming is leaking its on the drivers side in front of radiator. Its not antifreeze. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: 99 Silverado Transmission cooler
you can usually mount a aftermarket one in front of the radiator/ac condenser. just make sure its large enough to cool your transmission. you can cut the lines where they go into the radiator and get transmission fluid compatible rubber hoses to connect the lines to the new cooler. product should come with installation instructions.

if you are sure it is the cooler and with this set up that should be easy since the grill comes off in 30 sec. go to scrap yard and get another one.. no need to purchase a new one. aftermarket would be more work. these use quick disconnects very easy if you get same one in the yard. possible it is power steering ? power steering is brown... tranny fluid is red. |

Re: 99 Silverado Transmission cooler
Thanks for the quick response. It was the power steering cooler leaking. Bought a universal replacement, had to modify the hoses. In case someone else has to do this procedure you must remove the upper lights on both sides to remove the grill. Drivers side you need to remove the lower light assembly to remove the bracket behind the lights to get at the power steering hoses.

Re: 99 Silverado Transmission cooler
looks just like it rusted out. No sign of damage was leaking at the bottom starting about 1 inch up.
