01 Escape Lunging-Jerky at different speeds
Car jerks while driving at different speeds, noticable when slowing or excellerating. It is an automatic
and seems like the jerkiness is at gear changing. there is no idle problem. Just this past week when starting the car and placing it in reverse, the car doesn't move. The car would have to be restarted before the car would acknowledge the reverse. There isn't a clunk when moving from park to reverse or drive, and there hasn't been any grinding noises from the Transmission. I had taken the car to Auto Zone and the codes showed no errors, that was before the Reverse problem started. Any advice would be appreciated since this is my daughters car. Thanks in Advance! Re: 01 Escape Lunging-Jerky at different speeds
Change the ATF in the tranny first. If that doesn't help take it to a qualified shop and have it diagnosed. Chances are they have seen this problem before and will be able to tell you what it is.
Getting back to the jerk and no response in reverse I would say that the clutch packs are worn out or the piston that controls reverse has worn seals. Another thing could be that the shift modulator is bad. |
