Blow by on motor
I have a 350 stock motor, it was in my 77 nova i tool it out and put it in my 87 camaro. After a couple of weeks it started to leak from the front & rear seals, while it sat on the trailer ( not running). and it poured out while running. I took off the drivers side valve cover while the motor was running & it was blowing oil out of the vent hole between the # 1 exhaust & intake rock arms. I was told that one of the pistons had a hole in it, or the rings were broke. So i took it apart and found no holes in the pistons & no bad rings. so what do yall think.

Re: Blow by on motor
Do a cylinder compression test. Compare all cylinder readings.

Re: Blow by on motor
A cylinder leak down test will see what and where the pressure is being lost, best way to test an engine's condition.

Re: Blow by on motor
Yeah, but i had already torn the motor apart. I found the crank & rod bearings were worn, Crank was scared, & The screen on the oil pump was plugged up.

Re: Blow by on motor
Agree. Do a compression test. If it is low, repair as needed. Did you re-ring the pistons and if so did you stagger the end gaps? If compression is ok, add a proper pcv system or repair the one that is malfunctioning.
