99 Tacoma
Driving home today the truck's radio quit, then the power windows would not work. Dome light would not come on and truck started running poorly. Over a period of ten miles it went from running normal to creeping along just above idle (1200 rpm or so). Then it quit completely. Did not have enough juice to start. Checked battery voltage ~13volts. About an hour after it quit it started and act like nothing was wrong. What do you all think might have caused this?

Re: 99 Tacoma
Sounds like a classic case of a bad battery and/or alternator. As the battery reaches the end of its life cycle, the alternater will try and charge it, which results in the voltage regulator burning up or shorting out, which causes unregulated voltage to be applied to your battery, which is already dead, which will spike the battery voltage up to 16 volts. As the reserve capacity of the battery is now depleted, the electrical system in your vehicle will quickly start to "die off." Time to have a tech take a look at it.
