That's a really tough question (for me)... I've been thinking about the same thing. It would be really easy to create fiberglass panels for my hatch, but I always seem to run up against the problem of how to secure the panels to the car... One thing I thought of was using the existing panels as kindof a base, stretching fabric over them and fiberglassing that. Then, possibly cut away the parts of the panel that I wouldn't need, leaving the clips and stuff... I dunno.
The other thing is, if you use your existing panels and fiberglass over them, you're adding a bunch of extra weight, which will harm you cars performance. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case you're concerned... As far as what to paint the panels with, you could use spray-paint if you want. I would go with a good sandable primer, some Krylon Interior/Exterior paint, and some Rustoleum Crystal Clear Enamel... Personally, I'm going to have my fiberglass pieces painted at a body shop with automotive paint...

hey ci5ic,
i noticed you were mounting your subs reversed from normal. is there a purpose for doing that? or a difference in performance? or is it just a looks thing.

it's just a looks thing ........ and the little extra space the speaker takes up is not subtracted from the box volume - since it is no longer in the box

Haven't decided which way they'll be mounted. I'm going to try it both ways and see what sounds the best.
Man, I'm such a slacker, I still have alot of work to do on the pod, but now it's getting really cold out, I may not finish it until next spring.
