Silverado burnout question

Hey guys, first post, my dad has a 2002 2wd silverado, when he holds the brake down and floors it, it revs to around 1700 and does not turn em over, me and him both figured they would smoke off, can anyone tell me if there is some kind of brake or something we are not aware of, any information would be helpful, thanx everyone

Re: Silverado burnout question

5.3, its not running sick or anything, runs fine any other time, were not sure if something is wired wrong or what, or if the 4 wheels discs are that damn good

That's kind of odd that he can't power brake. If he has traction control though, make sure to switch it off.

my 4.8 smokes the tires just fine. the 5.3 should do it just as good if not better. are you sure you're doing it right?

Re: Silverado burnout question

I just drove the truck, its kinda strange I pulled out somewhere and floored it while turning, honestly it didn't boil them off like it should i don't think. I would also hold the brake down, floor it, hold it (would only rev to 1,700) and release, it would barely chirp when I released, he has posy track, but you can usually feel it kick in after it would start to turn over etc, we never even felt anything start to turn over,, would you suggest us just go ahead and take it to the dealer and have them look, or is there like a traction control fuse I can pull, try that see if it helps.

I wouldn't think its the 4-wheel disc brakes, but who knows, you guys have the 4-wheel discs too, correct?

Re: Silverado burnout question

i dunno if goin to the dealer is gonna be any good. I could see you asking them "why won't my truck burn out?" hehe, but you could always try.

Re: Silverado burnout question

lol I agree with that, but my dad is like 56 so hopefully they wouldn't think he was ragging it, but seems like it might be sick, and it is under warranty, so we might as well swing it out there

We have tried everything, barely hold brake, apply more pressure, shifted down to 1st, put in tow/haul everything, he has a bed cover on it, and a shop vac a few shovels and things in the back but thats not enough to weight it down that much, I have no idea what the problem is, may have it checked out, I will let everyone know what it is, if its anything
