Honda Prelude - 4th generation - Fujimi - 1/24 - detailed

I've started this one already a while ago, but didn't came around to post any progress on here. So, this is to make up for that and share what I've been doing so far.

This is the kit

And this is the color it'll be in

First up is the chassis. Nothing special to report here. Painted with detail painting touches here and there.

Onto the body then. It's an interesting kit, given that on the inside of the roof, you have the sunroof outlined, so you can cut it out, to have it in an open position - which I did.

Modifications then. As the sun roof will be open, the inner frame work needs to be build up from scratch. Plastic card did the trick and on the image you see the 2 locations where the roof will be "pinned down" into the rails.

I've also replaced the kit's radio antenne. Note that the top bit has been cut off, as it was oversized.

I did struggle a bit in the beginning to get the primer laid down well, but after some good wet sanding it was all ok.

Here the color is applied

And finally, 2K clear coat was applied, compounded and panel lines painted matt black.

The interior will be next.

Re: Honda Prelude - 4th generation - Fujimi - 1/24 - detailed

Thank you!

Interior is next. Reference images I found on the web, were showing that the rear seats from the kit, did not really correspond with the reality. The reality of the "post-facelift models". Hard to call it a facelift, as the changes were minimal at the mid-life update. The forementioned rear seats, plus the front indicators in white iso orange and complete silver headlamp units were the most visible changes.

Anyways, this is how the kit part is looking, so I started cutting into it.

The part indicated with the blue arrow will be re-used. The other one went straight into the bin.

Re-shaping and remodeling brought me to this:

Then, it was time to paint everything in matt black. It doesn't get any more boring then this, so additional detailing painting is required to get some variations in there

Once dry, I taped all the areas that were to remain plain matt black. The non-masked areas where then covered with super fine embossing powder - the same technique I introduced here last year with my 307WRC.

Once this was dry, I painted the seats and door arm rest in matt dark grey. The black as the night is starting to reveal its details... thanks to some dry-brushing as well

I called the thread "detailed", so it's time to bring in the detailling
On the dashboard you can see the radio-CD that was added in PE - I also added the on-off button as this was not so visible - and the ignition key. A PE Honda logo was placed on the steering wheel.

Then, the rear seats got their seat belts and respective receivers and also PE speaker covers were added.

View from the other side, to give an additional look on the radio-cd and ignition-key

Finally, the front seats were added also. Note the seat belt receivers as well as the handles to tilt the seats forward as additional details.

At this stage I can turn my focus again on the body. The main challenge now will be mating the front seat belts with the b-pillar of the car. As soon as I'm there, you'll get to see another update.

Thanks for looking!

Those Guido's powders.... dammn . The cleaning lady remember yet your name

This is officially my second kid Nino's first model: he stealed from my stash and messed up . Ok he felt fun at last

Looks me that Guido become a machinist? Also you in the AF machining family? Great

Great job: I must say that this is the only street Honda I like (also the sharp next one).

Thanks for the responses! Highly appreciated.

@ Gio,

Unfortunately, I did not become a machinist. The parts you see here, are watch maker spare parts...

I'm building one of these at the moment (though nowhere near as nice looking as yours). Its a very strange kit, its meant to screw together instead of being glued.

I've stunned by your drybrushing work. Which silver (grey?) paint did you use for chassis drybrushing?
