Allante Radio Problem

OK all you Allante fan(s) out there. I have an '88 with 85,000 miles in almost great shape. But, like many Allantes there is a problem with the radio. I took the center instrument console out to fix a problem with the tape cassette player - it was jammed on and therefore I couldn't listen to the radio. I could hear the radio between clicks as the cassette tried to reverse direction even though there was no tape in it. Got that solved and turned on the radio only to have a very loud humming noise come from the right rear speaker. Far too loud to hear if the radio still worked. I may have somehow blown the amp on that speaker. Here's my question:

How can I test the radio without replacing that speaker and amp? Can I unplug that speaker to find out if the radio works without blowing any other of the speaker amps? Should I just replace all four speakers with unamplified speakers and if I do that would the radio be powerful enough for me to hear anything?

I'm stumped and I'd appreciate any thoughts on this.

Re: Allante Radio Problem

If you don't have any amps where they should be, perhaps we can find some for you.
