Hello all. Few questions
I have the chance to buy a 92 crown vic for $500. It has 70,000 miles on it. It needs a bumper cover, bumper reinforcment and a fender.
Is it worth $500? If i would buy it i have been pricing these parts. Everything for that year seems reasonable except the fender. It is near 300 for a 92. I found a 95 fender for 150. Are they the same? Also if anyone has any of these 3 parts let me know. |

500 bucks is reasonable for the car, unfortunately i can't comment on the fender... you can try a few bodyshops in the area and see what they can tell you about the 92-95 fender and whether it will fit or not.
That's pretty low mileage for the car to be 500 bucks... accident car? all beat to hell? Body can be rough but the powertrain ought to be good on it...

Re: Hello all. Few questions
Its a neighbor's mom who owns the car. Somehow her grandson got in the car and knocked it out of gear (I assume it was running) and it hit a house on the drivers side. The rest of the car is in decent shape.
She left her son in law do some work on it and now it has a miss to it. I am guessing it is something simple he messed up like plug wires in the wrong order or something along that line. The interior is spotless. |

It ought to be based on how it sounds, just a little rough cosmetically is all. The motor problems ought to be simple, but just in case i'd have a mechanic look at and see.
Still sounds like a pretty good buy though, let us know how it turns out.

Re: Hello all. Few questions
Depending on which fender needs replacing. Passenger fender w/ antenna, 92-94 only.
Left fender, 92-02 for sure, possible 03+ as well. |

Front fenders, and hood for 02 and up are all different, when they redid the front suspension for rack and pinion steering, the whole nose is 6in longer.

Re: Hello all. Few questions
03 got the new suspension, not 02.
Also, the hoods on a POST 98 car will not fit on a PRE 98 car, due to the different body line design on the 98 and up.. |

OK here is the scoop..radioman, make sure you know what you are talking about before you again open your mouth.
This is a cut and paste from a ford parts website. F8AZ16612AA Hood: F8AZ16612AA $488.93 $410.70 Hood - Hood and components - Hood Hood 2003 - 2004 F8AZ16612AA $488.93 $410.70 Hood - Hood and components - Hood Hood 1998 - 2002 F8AZ16054AA $37.32 $31.35 Fender - Fender and components - Wheelhouse Wheelhouse Right 1995 - 1997 F8AZ16054AA $37.32 $31.35 Fender - Fender and components - Wheelhouse Wheelhouse Right 1998 - 2002 1W7Z16055AA $39.42 $33.11 Fender - Fender and components - Wheelhouse Wheelhouse Left 1995 - 1997 s 1W7Z16055AA $39.42 $33.11 Fender - Fender and components - Wheelhouse Wheelhouse Left 1998 - 2002 The cmputer had not updated yet for the 2003 fender requests, but the source said that if the hood is the same length, the fenders will most likely be the same. THe only car with an extra 6" is the P70 BTW. I didn't have the numbers for the pre 1995 cars either ( I didn't want to waste the dealers time). The right fender on pre 95 cars had an antenna there. We are also convinced that the fenders on a pre 95 car will fit, because the only changes FoMoCo made between 92 and 94 was the header panel. |

Re: Hello all. Few questions
It all depends on how you read it, as far as attitude goes. FACT: wrong information was provided, which in this case, likely wouldn't have caused anyone any actual problems, just more money spent. Had it been something more serious, the results may have been catastrophic.
No one was being mean, just telling it like it is, why mince words?? Im sorry that that the black and white talk I use bothers you, it is NOT a flame. Military correction. |

My appoligies for being wrong. I guess it's nice to be a know it all. I work on these cars at a State Police barracks, and if MY BOSS says that the pre 03 fenders don't fit, I say yes your are right boss. BTW if you got this information now, why hadn't you posted it earlier? And being military correct isn't a function of a BBS board, a Ford manual is, and I don't feel like buying one each year for about $300.00.

Re: Hello all. Few questions
Well sir, I also have worked for a police garage within the past 5 years, and still have contacts in there.
Only the P70 is 6" longer in length. The body panels DO indeed swap out, as has just recently been verified by a local bodyshop who is replacing the front clip on a 03 with one from a 01. I posted that infor August 30th BTW, only about 15 days after the original posting. I don't check this site everyday, because I find that there isn't enough CV people 'in the know' here. CVN and CVU are the best places. |
