Screeching Noise Problem
Hello,
I have a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer ES nearing 100k. I've never turned my rear rotors. I've had some screeching while car is in motion, but I'm not sure where it's coming from. It is intermittent, but it has increased over past few days. I replaced the front brake pads since they appeared to be nearing their end and I figured that was the issue. However the noise remains. There is a pronounced lip on the outer edge of the rear rotors. I assume this means that I will need to replace them. I'm going to replace the pads and rotors, and also clean and relube the pins. Do you think this should resolve the issue? I'm trying to avoid taking it to a mechanic to save on costs. Any other thoughts on the cause of the noise. It happens when the car is in motion, and I never hear it when braking. It can be heard maybe 20% of the time while driving. Thanks. |

Re: Screeching Noise Problem
sounds like one of your brake pads is down to the warning bar. if noise is from the front then one of the pads is on wrong or one of your calipers is goofed up. if its from the rear its just telling you its time to replace them. usually on the rear disc you have to screw the puck back into the caliper, not just press in like the fronts
