97 dodge ram 1500 idle issue
A few months ago, I had an issue witht he truck stalling after it had warmed up.
After it would start, it would idle fine, after the engine temp warmed up, the idle was still fine until I would give it some gas and hold it some, then if I let off it would die. it would start right back up and idle, until I did the same thing. It would also do this while driving, I live close to work, if I got in started it and drove right over it was fine, unless it was a warm day the engine got warmed up faster. I ended up replacing the IAC valve, didn't help, changed the TPS and it fixed it. now a few months later it is doing it again. same exact thing. I have an obd2 reader and an app that reads the TPS position, but not sure if that will help with anything Bad TPS? IAC? bad gas? something else? any input would be appreciated. need any other info, just ask 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4, 360 auto thanks |

Re: 97 dodge ram 1500 idle issue
Are there any other codes? Have you checked your MAF? Just need a multimeter and maybe some silicon to close the pin holes made when you poke the wires. If the output volts showing on the multimeter are not smooth along with acceleration, but Wanky and random, its the maf.

Re: 97 dodge ram 1500 idle issue
ok, I was told to try this
I took a can of carb cleaner and sprayed it into the throttle body while keeping running. I drove it and let it get warmed up good and it seemed to be fixed. I will know more as I drive it today and in the morning. I will post the results thanks |
