Bad Coil?

My 510 has/had an MSD blaster 2 coil (PN 8203). Recently my car started missfiring mildly and infrequently. Then it started missfiring more frequently and more violently, until it was harly drivable, so when I brought it home I started trying to figure what the problem was, and at some point during that period it stopped starting altogether. I decided that it was probably the coil, so I pulled it and tested it, it is pulling nearly twice the resistance that MSD's specs say it should be. MSD's specs are: Primary Resistance .7 ohms, and Secondary Resistance 4.7k ohms. Is this enough of a problem, to cause the car to not run at all? If not what else could it be.

Thanks very much.
