Turn Signal Trouble
Hey all, I just want to confirm that the flasher for my turn signal is bad. The left signal will stick and not blink where as the right one will. When I put on the hazard flashers, they do not flash as well. Any other suggestions other than the flasher, I would greatly appreciate it. You could save me a some time and headache if you told me where the flasher was and which one to buy from (insert local auto store here). Thanks in advance!

Re: Turn Signal Trouble
ok, so new development. When i press on the brakes I get my parking lights on... and when my headlights are off my turn signals blink but so do my headlights. I am afraid this is indicative of a BCM but i wanted your opinion before I took it somewhere. Thanks, Derek

Re: Turn Signal Trouble
I had some weird stuff happen with my lights...plus I had whiffs of smoke coming from the steering column. It turned out to be the turn signal unit. It was interesting to replace since both Chiltons and Haynes use the same picture and both point to the wrong bolts to take out. The part is expensive from the dealer and there are several on eBay that are not factory but probably work fine. I found and bought a used one.

Re: Turn Signal Trouble
I am guessing there is a short somewhere. I can no longer drive it at night as my brake lights are on constantly with my parking lights. Is there a way I can diagonose a turn signal unit? thanks for the help, Derek

Re: Turn Signal Trouble
start by cleaning all grounds to the frame. battery to frame, motor to frame, frame to dog house. tail lights to frame. remove any add on trailer light harness. check all the lights on the truck. check the wires from the plug to the tail lights. confirm the plug is working fine no grit or grime inside.
then from there keep working back untill you find the fult. |

Re: Turn Signal Trouble
Well it turned out to be easier than I could have imagined. It turned out to be a trailer light harness had corroded and shorted causing all the trouble. I just unplugged it, cleaned it and plugged it back in, 5 minutes once I found it. Thanks for all the help, once again!
