Is there any technical whiz out there? I own a 98 Maranello and the car spends most of its time in the garage, predominately for pipe leakage and other silly things. What is most irritating, and what the mechanics could not fix so far are two things:
1. Slow Down - the bright red light keeps on flashing - well not permanently but during odd times - (a) Start-up, once the gear is in and I roll off (cold engine, car not used for 2 days or so) (b) After 3 Minutes and then disappears after 20 (c) When it is driven flat out for a few seconds The sensors have been replaced twice and the mechanics are scratching their heads. The cat has been checked - nothing wrong with it..... 2. Oil light - little red light on the left hand side - flickers every now and then, goes off, comes on, as it likes. However it always tends to stay on when I am doing long turns, especially right hander’s - then it goes off again after a minute or so. The oil is topped up, and the car just had a service - once again the mechanics are scratching their heads. Anybody out there experiencing the same??? Any ideas ??? Thanks G |

Re: F550
jeejz thats crap.
1)have they only changed the censors? maybe there is a dodgy wire or so? 2)you topped up the oil, i hope between those 2 lines on your oil meter stick? during right handers.... could be because the bottom is in an angle, so when your in a right hander, it can be that there isnt any oil for a short time. thats not to bad, i think most 550's have that. i think its updated in the 575, not sure dough. i hope i helped you, good luck with it anyway, im 16 years old, and im studying engines for about 2 years now. these are just the ideas i can come up with. ps: the slow down light is very common on the 550. |

Re: F550
Had the slow down light problem
Do two things 1) Put an additional ground to the cat control wiring in the passanger footwell panel, 2) Replace the 2 controlers for the cats, they are located under the front bonnet at the top of the fender wells, Make sure you get the ones with the new part number, This was redesigned because of the problems with them |
