Re: performance
Well that depends - what would you like to know ?
The 550 does not stand a chance against a 911 Turbo for instance - not in take off, mid range and top speed, irrespective of what the magazines say the 911 is definately faster in all 3 stages (trust me I tried it a douzen times and lost every single time against different 996 Turbo's). The 550 is suposed to be faster than the 360, but I can't feel that difference on the open road, seems to be the same - have not tried it on the track and probably won't as the 550 will spend 3 months in the workshop after such an outing. But it's not about speed, nowardays a VW Golf runs over 210 km/h, I even hit 200 km/h with a BMW 320 diesel - unthinkabe 10 years ago. If you want a fast car get a 911 Turbo, Subaru Imprezza or an EVO - all 3 will sink the 550 - but the interesting part is this, if you drive a 550 (or any Ferrari in that respect) - EVERYBODY wants to race against you - not the other way around - and they all stare - trust me it is not a oh crappy car stare - but it is more often than not admiration, after all the 550 is one of the most beatuful cars in the world - so who cares if it is not the fastest car - it surely is one of the sexiest, not in a vulgar Lamo way but in a more suttle one. |
