Would you rather work in a garage or a dealership servicing centre

What's up everyone,

I've recently been given the opportunity to work in a dealership servicing centre specialising in only Nissan vehicles. However my college teacher says it'd probably be best to get experience and a job working on a range of manufacturers vehicles. Figured I'd ask your guys' opinion on this and if you have any experience working in either to give your advice on what the best option would be.

I'm both sorry and disappointed that it seems a lot of traffic on AF seems to have migrated over to Zuckerworld and other such platforms! And that nobody has answered your fine question.

Yours is a good career question, particularly if you've graduated from a good automotive program, and are either studying for or have obtained your ASE and/or other certificates.

Certainly, at a dealer service dept, at least 60% of what you take tools to will match the name on the dealer building. But then, you'll also work on trades from every make imaginable, getting them in shape for resale or customer loaner service, depending on age.

At a quick-lube, the scope of services you provide will likely be comparably limited, but on a much wider range and vintage of vehicles.

At an indie(pendent) garage, you'll get the broadest and most in depth repair experience, on everything from bread n butter Elantras to the ice cream truck I saw today parked halfway back into the bay of a local guy I've done business with for years, lol!

So there's plus/minuses to all routes into auto repair. Good luck, speak quietly and carry a sturdy tire gauge!
