1988 dodge d100 lost heat

i lost my heat after i drained some antifreeze to put in a bottle of head gasket fix. i put more antifreeze in after that to top it off. my heat worked before i did this. could it just the heater core is clogged up? i replaced the thermostat and gasket today. the hose going from the radiator to the engine is hot but my heat isnt.

You might have air trapped in your cooling system. Park the truck with the passenger side front a foot or higher than the driver's side rear, start the engine and let it come to running temperatures with the radiator cap off. After you see coolant circulating through the radiator, rev the engine a little then top off the coolant level in the radiator.
This is called "burping" the cooling system.

Re: 1988 dodge d100 lost heat

would using a 2 ton jack and jacking up the passagner front tire as high as the jack go be high enough to burp it? if so i did that and it was full on antifreeze. if not can you tell me what is high enough that i can ride my passagner front tire on to get at least a foot high off the ground?

After the engine warms up from driving around, the hoses should be hot.
Is there a temperature gauge on the instrument panel?

I've also had luck burping older Mopars by putting the front end about a foot higher than the rear, and running it with the radiator cap open.
