MX-3 Blown Auto

Hi I am fixing this car for a friend, it is a 1993 MX-3 with 244,000 miles on it, has the 1.6L 4 cylinder and its automatic.

The trans slips really badly in 1st and 2nd and has a really bad leak.

Will the auto trans out of any other mazda/ford vehicles work in this car??

Also what would cause the trans to slip in 1st and 2nd but not in 3rd or 4th??

When you go to accelerate from a stop it slips and as its shifting to 2nd it slips but 3rd and 4th are perfect???

Re: MX-3 Blown Auto

i do know the ford probe is a direct engine swap. not sure if the trans will bolt onto the 4 clyinder. and if u are very hard on the throttle from a stand still it is very possible that the gears are rounding out. causing it to jump to the next gear to soon. it just happened in my deisal wer i lost first then 2nd and finally third.
