Re: starting issue (HELP)

could still be a passlock problem. I dont think you would see a fuel pressure drop when the car shuts off because the test port is between the injectors and the fuel pump. They're should always be pressure unless u have a leaking injector or regulater or something.

If its not a passlock issue it could be the coil pack going bad.

When u changed your spark plugs did you have any oil on them or a major carbon build up? An excessive internal oil leak could foul out 1 or more plugs.

Re: starting issue (HELP)

Is you anti theft light on? if so read this:http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=454520

From what i've seen and read the fuel injectors will shut off as soon as the car starts, like within 1 second of the car starting if its the passlock.

The IAC controls the amount of air passing the throttle plate when its closed at idle. You can pull it out and clean it if it has carbon on it. It should be shiny not black.

When I had my key turned forward to reset, it took 30 mins for the car to start.

Re: starting issue (HELP)

I dont know anything about the black dots but as far as I know passlock is standard. It reads the code (or cut) of the key. Its a chip on top of the lock cylinder that reads the position of the tumblers in the lock. When u insert the key, all the tumblers change position to let the cylinder turn. the position of the tumblers makes a code that goes to the pcm (I believe). If the code is correct the pcm will enable the injectors so they wont shut off.

I think I explained that right.

I still need to know if your anti theft light is on or not.

First I would have the coil pack tested or test it yourself.

Does the car idle high or low when it starts?

does it still missfire before it cuts off?

Re: starting issue (HELP)

the light stays on and it does not miss any more. The strange thing is last night just messing around i put the remote start by pass back in but not the remote start unit and the car started. at this point it has me fooled i do not know what i did to fix it if anything! I think i might do the mod to put the swith in anyway. after i got it to start the light stayed on untill the first time i turned it off and back on.

Re: starting issue (HELP)

thats exactly what I did. that post u may have read is the one I posted after I got the car started. I unhooked the passlock bypass module and the car still started but the light came back on.

I think the 2000 and up Malibu's are just not meant to have remote start unless you maybe disable the factory passlock system first before you install the alarm/remote start. But im not an alarm guy like that so im guessing.

Glad you got your car started
