Excitement over price and weight!

Do you have a suspicion on what the weight and price will be, well, post about it at the forums!

If you go to the skyline section in this forum, it has something about the price ( $60,000 ) if i remember correctly. I am not sure if this is correct but it gives an idea. And the car is said to have four wheel drive, twin turbos, and about 450 horsepower, probably to the crank but I am not sure.

Re: Excitement over price and weight!

thats too much.....i'd rather get a used corvette for around $30,000 that does 11s stock, i think if nissan wants the skyline to do good and compete with the new supra coming out, they better start looking at the price, the skyline is most popular amongst young kids, and there's not gonna be enough young kids buying those skylines to make good sales off of

well, if i was in this business to make money, and if i was nissan, i would try and make it as cheap as possible, maybe $40,000-$50,000 the most! remember, this is the skyline, every kid knows a skyline, especially here in the USA, if they make it too expensive, then its gonna be one of those "old guy" cars like the corvette, etc, if too expensive, i'd rather buy an sti or evo for $30,000 that does 13s stock, if nissan plans to price this skyline in the US for more than $40,000+, it better be doing like 11s stock or maybe better, skyline in the USA + american kid dream car = $$$$ u get my point? yeah, $40,000-$50,000 i would buy, but $60?? heck, i'd just buy two evos or sti, or better yet, one of each

Re: Excitement over price and weight!

I agree with Fairladyz gtr. The car has got to be expensive. It takes away from the entire awe of the car if they are everywhere. Any of the Super cars could be sold at half the price they are, but if they cost half the car loses value. Anyway, the dealers are going to mark the prices up. I can't get a damned new EVO for under $36k anyway

Re: Excitement over price and weight!

I'd put my money on $70k and a weight of around 3350 - 3450 lbs. Nissan has already stated that they are shooting for 911 turbo performance at entry level 911 pricing. No need for debate.

This will not be a boy racer car, but another expensive niche car.

Re: Excitement over price and weight!

Read a recent interview with Carlos Ghosn that the new GTR will weigh in at around 3500 lbs and have just over 400 hp. Starting to look like their is truth to the rumor that the Porsche 911 Turbo is their target. This GTR may end up a touring car vice a true sports car.

With the power and agility seen in the new ZO6 and Viper, the GTR may debut to find the playground bullies are waiting to take it's lunch money. Giving up 200-300 lbs and 50-100 hp to the heavy hitters in it's price range, the GTR may be found wanting on the track as well. Perhaps Nissan is hoping to tap the same vein as Porsche with a luxury/sports car. This might have been easier with an Infiniti badge, but harder to pull off in the USA with the Nissan moniker.

Only time will tell.

thats BS actually. they know the skyline because they 'know' its the 'fastest'. older guys like the skylines aswell, it just has to do with if you are interested in cars or not.

yet again, the skyline is not made to go in a straightline. if you want a 1/4 mile car buy a corvette like you stated or a supra or anything. sure you can make the skyline go very fast in a straightline, but it involves serious money.

A Corvette would not be a good example of a 1/4 mile or 'straight line car'. Maybe a Mustang, Camaro, Firebird, or other pony car with a 'live' rear axel.

The last few generations of Corvette have definitely been cars that carve up the corners and dominate the tracks. Although the new C6 ZO6 still blasts the 1/4 mile fatster than most 'production' exotic supercars.

Re: Excitement over price and weight!

60k for a Skyline...... LOL. Not bloody likely.
If I remember correctly the R34 GT-R went for close to 80K US in japan. I doubt the new GT-R will be to far off that mark with the market where it is and all. After all I belive Toyota is tring to price the new Supra at around
70k US. These are going to be the new exotic flagship cars for these two manufactures much like the NSX is to Honda, and the GT is to Ford. After all Nissan wouldnt want to cut into there already popular Z33 lines profits or into the G35s profits. If you put something with better performance for only 10k more then well its more likely you will kill your two best sellers with one car. This is why Ford killed the Mercury Capri (based on the Fox body chassis) also why they wont bring the 2006 Ford Falcon FPV over to the states. Because it would KILL the Mustang in sales.

Plus look at the profit margin they stand to make if they build them for around 30k each and sell them for 90k. Thats a 300% increase in profit. Not to mention if you dont build alot of them then you can keep the price higher longer.

The Nissan Skyline is still made and sold in Japan, it is exactly the same vehicle as the Infinit G35. The new Nissan GTR will be a seperate vehicle altogether. So far I have only heard of the Coupe version.

Re: Excitement over price and weight!

i was reading a small article in car and driver or something like that, the cover was "future coupes" it's now believed to b pushing out around 500hp, if they kept it at 400hp, the viper and vette would outsell it in the usa. and the supra isnt going to compete with the gtr, if the supra's made, it'll go against the 350. which, honostly, i think the gtr should replace the 350. tho, the z is a legend in america, the gtr, is a nothing, sad to say.
i'm also getting annoyed of all the people stating they'd love to get a skyline, in japan it's as common as a mustang here in the states.
another thing, if they put the gtr at 35k, it'll keep it away from "kids", i'll admit im 19, i'd want it, but cant afford it. and the kids that could buy it, suk at driving, unless they take some good lessons.
nissan is going to look at this car in 2 ways. comp to the viper the vette, the 911, the 430, the gallardo, by the time the gtr comes out, they'll be running the camp. the second is, pinch it in with the base c6 vette, and the boxster, just above the 350z. the second one makes more sense. if people wants luxery they'll get a g35, if all out performance is wat they want, they'll go to the gtr
