Question 2001 2500 temp on console inaccurate

The other day I noticed the outside air temp on my overhead console is not working properly. It is extremely slow to update itself and the temps are all wrong. I talked to Dodge about the problem, they said that they did not have any technical people that could come to the phone to answer my questions about where the signal comes from for the temp display. They did tell me that the engine system was completely separate from the console system. I was wondering if it has anything to do with the codes that I'm getting as my check engine light also came on about the same time as I was noticing problems with the thermometer. The two codes that have been thrown are P1690 and P1693, P1693 is consistently thrown. Any electronics gurus out there that know where that little temp probe for the display resides? Any relation to the codes I'm throwing? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
