00' Malibu died while I was driving

Hi...the other day while I was driving, my Malibu just died on me. I was able to start it again a few minutes later and then it died soon after. When I try to start the car, it will crank but not fire up. Anyone have this happen to them? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

This could be anything causing your problem. I would take it to a shop and have the systems tested.

The only thing I seen was an information bulleting about the fuel pump strainer being clogged. Though there is a bulletin, it does not mean that this is the problem with your malibu.

Engine Hestitates, Stalls, Will Not Start (Replace Modular Fuel Sender Strainer) #00-06-04-044 - (10/16/2000)
Engine Hesitates, Stalls and/or Will Not Start (Replace Modular Fuel Sender Strainer)

2000 Chevrolet Cavalier, Malibu

2000 Oldsmobile Alero

2000 Pontiac Grand Am, Sunfire

2000 Toyota Cavalier

Condition
Some customers may comment that the vehicle engine hesitates, stalls and/or will not start.

Cause
This condition may be caused by a restricted or plugged in-tank modular fuel sender strainer.

Correction
Replace the existing modular fuel sender strainer with a new strainer, P/N 88891094. To insure correct installation, follow the instruction sheet contained in the service kit. Also, refer to the service procedure found in the Engine Controls sub-section of the Service Manual.

Hi...thanks for the reply! I ended up taking the car to the shop to get it tested as you suggested and it ended up being the fuel pump. I had it replaced and all is fine (for now anyway, lol)...thanks again!
