Hi,
I have a 2007 Passat AWD V6 station wagon that I bought new and now has over 103K miles. Yesterday when I started it the red brake light in the console started blinking, the Parking Brake button blinked, the display said there is a fault with the parking brake, and the elevator gong bongs every second or so when I'm driving.
The dealer says that both the electric actuators in the rear calipers don't work and I need to replace them for $1,764. I'm thinking that this is the time to replace the car, but I'd rather not listen to the bonging while I look around. The dealer says they can do nothing to stop it except replace the rear calipers.
Any ideas on how to stop the bonging? Any other thoughts?
Thanks,
Mike
