Re: dodge turbo glow plugs
My 5.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel has no glow plugs and the only thing an open door activates is the courtesy/dome lights. When you first turn the keyswitch on, the Wait to Start light comes on, a heater grid mounted on the intake manifold is switched on and starts heating up. After a set amount of time, depending on the outside air temperature, the Wait to Start light goes off and you start the motor. The heater grid pulls alot of current and trying to start the motor while the Wait to Start light is on can ruin the batteries.
The 5.9L Cummins is designed to start quickly, mine starts quicker than my gassers.

Re: dodge turbo glow plugs
Probably the same intellect as the Ford owns CumminGs line of thought.

Re: dodge turbo glow plugs
I don't think Cummins has used glow plugs since 99 or 00.
When it is cold enough to really need my heater grid I just plug it in

Re: dodge turbo glow plugs
My '92 had the heater grid. You might find glow plugs on the older big truck motors.

Re: dodge turbo glow plugs
Cummins/Dodge combination have always used heater grids, never glow plugs. They saved that for Ford....
