Oxygen Sensor Problems

My 2005 Subaru Legacy has had 6 front oxygen sensors replaced and recently another failed. Subaru dealer wants to replace the electrical harness, stating that they have had other Subarus in their shop with the same problem. Subaru refuses to pay for it because they are not sure if it will work and say that I am past my warranty coverage on the 6th O2 sensor. I replaced the front O2 sensor with a universal Bosch and reset the ECU, the car went about 3 miles and the same ECU code came up with failed front O2 sensor.
Subaru mechanics want $2500 to replace the electrical harness. Is anyone familiar with this problem and have any recommendations?
